It often happens that you want to play something with a friend, but no games come to mind. You’re tired of online shooters and other competitive games, you want something that you can play in a cooperative, a game to play with a friend or to create something together.

In this case, this article will help you. In it, I have collected the best cooperative games, most of which I have played personally. It should be noted that this is not a top cooperative games, but just a list, so the position of the game in the article does not correspond to its quality.

A Way Out

Let’s start with A Way Out by Hazelight, a studio famous for its cooperative projects. You start the game in a prison, from which you will need to escape by teaming up with your friend, but it turns out that this is just the beginning of your exciting journey. The game is full of action, has an interesting plot with several interesting twists and turns, and varied gameplay. I personally played the game twice and was very satisfied. By the way, the game is a bit different with different characters, so you might also find it interesting to play through it with a few friends.

Valheim

The indie hit of 2021, Valheim, will also be a great option for playing with a friend, or even a co-op game for a company. The game is an interesting survival simulator, both in terms of mechanics and visually and atmospherically. Graphically, the game is minimalistic, and personally, it evokes similar vibes as the PS1 graphics, but with cool effects and lighting. However, don’t let the graphics fool you. After all, the simple visuals hide a huge number of mechanics and a cool atmosphere. And like many survival games, you will need to build your base, collect resources, and ensure your basic life. Among the features, it should be noted that the goal of the game is to kill the bosses of all biomes, which is not easy. The game is steeped in Scandinavian mythology, and the bosses will be from the same place. Up to 10 of your friends can also play with you. And of course, as in all survival games, you don’t have to run to the final boss, you can come up with a goal for yourself with your friends, such as building a giant fortress, and just enjoy the time spent together in the game.

Diablo 3

If you and your friends like to go through virtual dungeons together and collect a huge number of things to create cool and unique builds, then Diablo is for you. What can we say about this game and the series in general if they have spawned a whole new genre of so-called diabloids. If you have started playing alone before but did not really like it, then try to start with a friend, and it will be many times more interesting. You can also try to create new characters and play with new builds.

Portal 2

Portal 2 is a classic for cooperative play. A game that has already become legendary. The game has a cool single-player storyline, and if you haven’t played it yet, you should definitely do so. If you have already done it, or do not really want to, then the way to the cooperative is open to you, where you will find even more levels that were developed specifically for cooperative passage. In the game, you will have to solve puzzles using portal guns, various gels and physics, all accompanied by Glados’ comments and jokes. Also among the features is that new levels can be created for the game by the players themselves, so you will have something to play even after completing the official levels.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two is another project from the famous Hazelight. This is probably the best cooperative game I’ve ever played in my life. The peculiarity of the game is that it, like A Way Out, is created exclusively for 2 players and with 2 players in mind. You simply cannot play the game alone. The game is constantly juggling game genres, radically changing the gameplay almost every hour, which makes it extremely dynamic and exciting. The visuals are also good, and the project looks great even on PS4. In general, thanks to all its features, the game will appeal to both experienced gamers and people far from the gaming industry.

Far Cry 5

Although there have been a lot of complaints about the latest games in the Far Cry series lately, the 5th installment turned out to be quite good in the end. Together with a friend, you can go through the entire company, which is very cool.

As for the game itself, it’s a typical Far Cry, with all its features, both positive and negative. The positives include a charismatic thief, a large open world where something is always happening, and cool activities like fishing or hunting. On the downside, there are grinds and outposts that need to be cleared. In fact, the game is a large sandbox, set in an atmospheric outback in America, like Montana or some similar state. Visually, the game looks good, the story is not super interesting, and often gets stuck because of the grind, but in general it is not bad, and in the company of a good friend it can give a lot of good emotions.
