Often we want to play something with a friend or girlfriend while we’re nearby, but we don’t always know the games that support this mode of play. It is for such cases that this article was created, in which you will find local games for two. Here you will find both games for two on one PC and games for consoles. Below each game, you can see a brief description, the release date and platforms on which the game was released, as well as the number of players who can play at the same time.
It should be noted right away that this is not a top list, and the order of games almost never reflects their interest or quality (although there are exceptions), projects are mostly placed in random order. Also, although there will be some well-known games here, I also tried to show cool games that may not be known to many players. So, let’s get to the list.
It Takes Two
Let’s start with one of the best local co-op games I’ve ever played in my life. It Takes Two is a project of Hazelight studio by the famous game designer Yousef Fares.
The peculiarity of the game is that only 2 players can play it. That is, you will not be able to complete the game alone. To me, this is extremely cool, because the whole game was created with two players in mind, and is balanced and incredibly interesting for two players. Another cool feature is that the game is constantly juggling game genres, radically changing the gameplay almost every hour, which makes it extremely dynamic and exciting. The story is also not a weak point of the project, and although it does not bring anything radically new, it has interesting characters. The visuals are also good, and the project looks great even on PS4. In general, thanks to all its features, the game will appeal to both experienced gamers and people far from the gaming industry. The only caveat is that if your partner doesn’t play computer games often, the controls may be difficult at first.
Overcooked and Overcooked 2
Overcooked is a crazy kitchen simulator. Together with your friends, you have to get ready to cook in the most diverse and extreme conditions imaginable. Here you will cook while rafting on a river, in the sky on balloons, and right in the middle of the city, while the environment is constantly changing, forcing you to quickly adapt to new challenges. It won’t be easy without a good and well-coordinated team, where everyone knows their role. But the game is extremely interesting and exciting, and time will fly by with good friends, even if you don’t like to cook in real life. And if you like part 1, then even more content awaits you in the sequel.
Rocket League
I think many people have heard of the “soccer on cars” game Rocket League, but not everyone knows that it has a two-player mode on one device. The game itself, as mentioned earlier, is a cool combination of racing and cars in general with football. At first glance, it looks strange, as if these things shouldn’t go together. But the developers have created a very good and dynamic game, in which, obviously, you will need to play football while controlling the car. In addition, cars can drive on the walls and briefly fly into the air, which adds even more dynamics to the game.
Worms W.M.D.
The classic game for the company is Worms, which has been and is a very popular game for two on a PC. For a fun pastime, almost any part of the legendary series of games about worms is suitable, but here I took Worms W.M.D. as an example, because it is the newest classic game in the series (I do not take Worms Rumble into account, since it has little left of the classic mechanics). Here, everything is the same, each player has a team of several worms, and only 1 has to remain. A well-known feature of the series is the use of amazing and interesting weapons, such as the Super Sheep or the Holy Grenade.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Every LEGO game boasts the ability to play two players on one screen, and the latest LEGO Star Wars is no exception. As always in LEGO games, you’ll find a lot of puzzles, some action, of course, interaction with legos, and a simple story that retells the events from the movie or cartoon on which the game was based. As in the case of Worms, this particular installment was taken as the newest in the series. If you don’t like the Star Wars universe or the new control scheme, you can choose any other Lego game and have just as much fun.
FIFA
And of course, this list cannot do without a classic game for several players on one console, or even for a company in front of one TV. Of course, we are talking about the best football simulator at the moment – FIFA by Electronic Arts. There is nothing to add here, as almost all gamers have probably played virtual football at least once. It should only be noted that players who frequently play FIFA are increasingly complaining about the terrible monetization system, but if you run the game only a few times a month in a company, it won’t affect you much.
